Life Skills comprise workshops/forums/series of activities that are conducted weekly for Life College students only.

To achieve these objectives, Life College has embarked on weekly workshops that emphasizes the development of skills and values, such as leadership, teamwork, conflict management, communication skills, presentation skills, personal financial planning, self-esteem, etc. While these skills are also embedded into our academic subjects, it is felt that the dedicated Life Skills Programme will further value add and enhance the learning outcomes. The Life Skills Programme also include special camps carried out during the semester breaks at very reasonable costs and conducted by experienced professional corporate trainers. These trainers will give the same kind of training that is carried out in the executive levels of the corporate world.

These and other activities organized by the College are part and parcel of what we deem critical to the holistic and wholesome development of the individual student. As such, the College has made compulsory, students’ attendance and participation in the weekly workshops and camps. The result of these activities shall be included in the students’ academic transcripts. The students will also be awarded a separate certificate along with their diploma parchment upon graduation. The additional award will be useful as proof of the graduates’ portfolio of experience and extra-curricula intitiatives and motivation. Employers are always on the lookout for relevant experience which can be gained from such activities.

Small class sizes allow for more interaction and personal attention to be given to the students. In addition, the community culture encourage students to work in groups, to learn to relate with each other well as they work on projects, discussions and assignments. Teachers are also able to provide more personal coaching and guidance, giving personal inputs to identify the weaknesses and strengths of each student.
I would describe Life College as a cool place and of course it has a friendly environment as well. One thing that I have learnt from life College is that you have to be independent and of course you have to learn how to think critically and it depends sometimes on the assignments that the lecturers give you but one thing that I would cherish here is the friends that I had who actually helped me in projects and also assignments and I will never forget that.by Melissa Joan

I have learnt a lot from Life College , I know and have met many friends, good and great friends . The friends I met here have helped me a lot. Thanks to them all for helping me that today I have graduated. What I will remember most are the administrators like Ms Elaine who helped me a lot. When I was faced with problems, she helped me out. So did the lecturers who also helped me a lotby Lim Kee Loon

I am really happy and I want to thank Life College for the internship, scholarship, and for being able to finish my study here..I am happy nowI have learnt a lot from design to everything related to multimedia and I even had the opportunity to work for a year, so this helped me learn a lot of things. Life College is GREATby Dennis Yong

The most memorable thing about life college is the friends that I have made, the fun times we had, the learning experience and the lecturers who are really very good.Life Skills is really informational for me and it really taught me a lot but I must say that life at Life college is quite good in the sense that the lecturer still kinda spoon feed but if you go to other universities out there I don’t think they will actually remind you and show you so much care and concern. Life College really cares. But it’s a good thing that they still do, I am not saying it’s a bad thing. I would say Life College Is Awesome.by Elizabeth Foo

What did I remember most about life College?Basically when we hang out in college with the guitar here and everyone will come and start singing and jamming and get scolding by one of the staff because the sound travels through the chaffs and everyone will hear.Describe Life College in one word or sentence?

It’s quite impossible to describe Life College in one word or one sentence but what I can really say is, it is life changing, it is a family college, everybody knows each other and everybody knows everything including all the good stuff but basically Life college is a small college community college where we can make friends easily

Life College Diploma in Mass Communication covers what the workforce needs today. It helped me to understand every single terminology the organization use. It provided me with an added advantage to be better equipped as I know I will be knowledgeable and insightful in different areas when approached at work. The good interpersonal communication skills I have gathered along the way during my course of studies such as Psychology, Communication Skills and Public Speaking makes communicating information, ideas in writing and speaking easier for me in the office. Handling the media and doing follow up with the press for events and announcements also require an understanding on how the media works. This was taught during our journalism and broadcasting classes. Whatever I have learnt during my studies in Life College has helped me to cope with the workload I encountered during my internship in OSK Investment Bank. This industrial placement has made me better prepared for my future in the marketplace. As competition is going to be stiff, one needs to learn to adapt to any situation and acclimatize with the corporate culture instantly. It has taken me to a higher level of understanding the market needs and equip me to overcome possible obstacles I will face in the future. It has also shaped my personality to embrace the future whatever the circumstances may be.by Nicole Tan, Graduate, Diploma in Mass Communication on her work placement

Without character, paper qualifications alone cannot carry a graduate far after graduation. The character moulding and values given at Life College will equip the students for the marketplace. We are grateful to Life College for all the help and kindness shown to my son that enable him to transfer effectively to complete his degree studies in Australia.”by Mr. & Mrs. Cheah Meng Yee

“My daughter completed her Diploma in Business and has transferred to Curtin University of Technology, Australia. She is doing very well there, achieving high distinctions, thanks to the fine preparation she had at Life College. We are very glad that she came to Life College. The College had done a very good job preparing her for her degree studies. What she had learnt here at the College had helped her in the subjects she is taking in Australia. The transfer to Curtin University had been an excellent fit for her. One of the subjects she is now taking has in fact been covered while she was at the College.
What came through particularly was the self-discipline instilled in her at the College that enabled her to be on the right path, making the right decisions and being so focussed in her studies. At Life College, she received the personal touch, and core values that shaped her and helped her to think independently and critically, all of which are important in her studies. At Life College, unlike many places, students are not just a number but is given individual attention. We are thankful to Life College for the contribution in her life that had helped her to adjust and excel in her studies. It had been a real blessing to her.”

“I thank God for the opportunity for Isaac to study at Life College. The lecturers are very good, very dedicated and helpful. There is a lot of emphasis on the teaching of values, morals and ethics that mean a lot to the students. I have seen a lot of changes in my son since joining Life College. He has learnt to be more independent and grown to become less shy and willing to speak up and talk to others. He has also become more confident. It had been a good learning experience for him”by Mrs. Lee Seng Hock

“My son Nicholas seemed to enjoy College life very much judging from the many stories he tell us. He has also gained more confidence and maturity. He has changed a lot. This is shown by the way he treat his brother and sister, his grandparents and his relationship with others. He appeared to be better adjusted and more well mannered.Academically, he has also shown marked improvement. We are confident he will continue to do well as he transfer to U.K. to complete his further studies. We are pleased that by studying at Life College he has managed to save time and money in being able to transfer directly for the final year of studies compared to other places which will take a longer route. I am grateful to Life College for all the help and care given to him that brought him to where he is today.”by Mrs. Angie Yap

“I want to thank the College and all the staff members. It has certainly done a lot for my son. He is now more responsible, more caring. The close environment allow teachers and students to interact closely, giving them personal attention. The College makes the effort to understand my son and takes personal interests in his progress. At the College he is treated as more than just a number or a name. I am so grateful for all that is done for Yohan.”by Mrs. Yogaraj

“Life College has prepared me well. The Life Skills are so important to help us grow in maturity and the values that are imparted are necessary and important to prepare us for the future. The Life Skills sessions are good because they work! There is a right balance between academic and life skills preparation at Life College. As a result, I am able to balance my life and given me more confidence as I moved on to other degree studies. I learnt a lot from the College such as how to plan my studies, do proper assignments, make new friends, etc. It had blessed me a lot.”

“The College not only trained us in terms of professional knowledge and work skills, they also helped to mould our character and personality. The Life Skills Sessions helped exposed me to various skills that will help me face the challenges in our society in the future. Being in the same session almost every week also allow me to get to know many friends from other programmes too and connect with them.”
