Posted under Life Skills

Life Skills is a programme aimed at helping students to develop three key areas that will help them in their life after they graduate. Click here for a list of Life Skills programmes.

The three key areas are:

  1. Personal Development
  2. Social Awareness
  3. Workplace preparation

These fall under the ASK values:

Attitude

Service

Knowledge

Life Skills comprise workshops/forums/series of activities that are conducted weekly for Life College students only.

In a survey conducted by UKM on Employers’ Criteria For Employability, employers ranked the following criteria when hiring workers:

  1. Good Attitude
  2. Skills/Experience
  3. Communication Skills
  4. Not Choosy
  5. English Proficiency
  6. Qualifications
  7. Analytical Skills

We are committed to help our graduates develop such vital skills to be competitive and marketable, able to thrive and succeed in a world full of uncertainties and challenges.

To achieve these objectives, Life College has embarked on weekly workshops that emphasizes the development of skills and values, such as leadership, teamwork, conflict management, communication skills, presentation skills, personal financial planning, self-esteem, etc. While these skills are also embedded into our academic subjects, it is felt that the dedicated Life Skills Programme will further value add and enhance the learning outcomes. The Life Skills Programme also include special camps carried out during the semester breaks at very reasonable costs and conducted by experienced professional corporate trainers. These trainers will give the same kind of training that is carried out in the executive levels of the corporate world.

These and other activities organized by the College are part and parcel of what we deem critical to the holistic and wholesome development of the individual student. As such, the College has made compulsory, students’ attendance and participation in the weekly workshops and camps. The result of these activities shall be included in the students’ academic transcripts. The students will also be awarded a separate certificate along with their diploma parchment upon graduation. The additional award will be useful as proof of the graduates’ portfolio of experience and extra-curricula intitiatives and motivation. Employers are always on the lookout for relevant experience which can be gained from such activities.

“Life College has prepared me well. The Life Skills are so important to help us grow in maturity and the values that are imparted are necessary and important to prepare us for the future. The Life Skills sessions are good because they work! There is a right balance between academic and life skills preparation at Life College. As a result, I am able to balance my life and given me more confidence as I moved on to other degree studies. I learnt a lot from the College such as how to plan my studies, do proper assignments, make new friends, etc. It had blessed me a lot.”
