The Mission

SKILLS-BASED AND VALUES-BASED EDUCATION

  • The College’s purpose is to nurture relevant life skills, values and attitudes that students can apply for the rest of their lives.
  • It is dedicated to provide proper guidance and support to the youth, especially in the current environment of declining values and skills that have drawn much of our youth away from basic principles and proficiencies that really matter.
  • Schools have been too focussed on academic performance till many have not persevered to address attitude problems like indiscipline, absenteeism, gangsterism, disrespect for parents and teachers. These are social ills affecting our youth today. Life College recognizes the gravity of these and have taken steps to instill social skills and intelligence in our students and to prioritize the development of good character, values, morals, and principles in all of its courses and activities.
  • Intellectual education influences the mind but value-based education influences the heart. Life College was born out of this vision to blend in timeless life values and skills into its academic curriculum, and to guide our youth back to the basics of education where the heart of education must really begin with the education of the heart.
  • Every course in Life College has a project-based component which trains students to work as a team and inculcates good work ethics.
  • The College intends to enrich and strengthen THREE basic frameworks in the education system.
  1. Upgrading Academic Standards
  2. Cultivation of Market Place Skills
  3. Emphasis on Moral Literacy

CORE VALUES OF THE COLLEGE

The College has identified the following core values that are central to the education of the mind, body and spirit: - Focussed Vision of Excellence, Attitude, Integrity, Teachability, Hope & Courage. These are aptly abbreviated into the acronym F-A-I-T-H.

One or more of these qualities are constantly emphasized in every academic course in the College. Students have the opportunity to understand, judge, and live these values based on their commitment to their studies and personal goals. Ultimately, it is our hope that students will return in future years and share how these virtues have influenced their personal and professional lives, and how these have helped them become significant members of the community.

  • Focussed Vision – Establishing the sense of purpose in life, setting goals and direction
  • Attitude – Develop an attitude of possibilities
  • Integrity- Beyond honesty, justice and consistency in character
  • Teachability – Humility and trustworthiness
  • Hope & Courage – resilience in time of challenge and difficulties

Our goal in emphasising the affective domain in higher education is to provide students with ample opportunity to understand, discuss and examine these core values that are central to the College’s holistic approach to learning. It forms the unique perspective of Life College to its mission of “Defining Standards and Refining Values“.
